HOUSE OR
HOME
I've
heard it said that, "It doesn't take a house to make a home". This is
true. You can live in an apartment and still have a "home". You can
live in a house and NOT have a home. Home is a place where there is sanctuary
from the craziness of the world, a place of solace and comfort, a place of acceptance
and unconditional love. This can be found no matter where you live if the
conditions are right. By this, I mean the condition of the hearts of those who
dwell with you. There is a perfect example of this where many truths can be
found in just one parable. Some of you may be very familiar with it, others may
not. But I'd like to take the time to share it with you now.
Luke
15:11-24 tells us, "A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his
father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided
unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all
together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his
substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty
famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself
to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat:
and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said,...
